Artz Night 2016
Again this year, the Middle School put on an Artz Night that seemed to do the impossible - it just gets better every year! The sheer volume of work alone was staggering! Artistic works from every discipline were on display in Linder Hall. There were many superb pieces of art generated from the Art teachers: Mrs. Haddaway and Mr. Pashkow, including ceramic fish, colorful depictions of "what's on a middle schooler's mind", a colorful tree made of recycled water bottles, metal sculptures, ceramic leaves and more! In addition to the art created in Art class, there were many pieces from the academic classes as well. History projects that created an Egyptian museum, graffiti art depicting the American Revolution, travel brochures of geographical locations, and varied displays from a joint History and English study of Civil Rights in America. Science classes displayed replicas of the space explorations projects, symbiotic organism websites, climate change infographics, an invertebrate organism magazine, and 3D molecular models. Spanish classes produced photo-collages of Mexican influences in San Diego. English classes displayed delightful poetry, newspaper replicas from the day the we landed on the moon, and beautiful art illustrating the setting from a student written paragraph. Math even had artistic work, including tessellations in geometry, equilateral triangle art, and scale drawings for their invertebrate organism reports. Last, but certainly not least, was the magnificent band performance! The entire Middle School performs in our band, and last night they played beautifully! This year the 6th and 7th grade students each contributed orinignal music to create a movement in the first ever Middle School symphony! Amazing! The band played beautifully! It was an amazing evening! Thank you to all the WWPA volunteers who helped out!
